Setting the pace in China

Our General Manager for the Chinese market, MARK HUGUET, reflects on the success of our Wuxi plant over the past two years and looks to the future.

16 October 2019

Two years have already passed since our grand opening ceremony of Lincotek Medical in Wuxi, China. It was a milestone in the history of our Group because of the high importance of the Chinese market to future growth.

With the opening of the plant, our Division started to offer our customers the highest level of quality, technology and service worldwide.

We installed the most innovative technology in Wuxi to produce porous titanium coatings on orthopedic implants.  The CAPS “Intercooler”, an Lincotek proprietary technology, continues to allow the production of our TiGrowth® porous titanium coating to the highest quality and repeatability standards.

Marc Huguet, our local General Manager, has established a team of highly competent, professional and motivated people, not only with today’s needs in mind, but also thinking of the future. Technology won’t help, after all, if we don’t have the human resources we need, and we are really pleased to see we can find exactly the right people.

The path to where we are today started with the legal establishment of the Wuxi Company in 2016.

In 2017, after the preparation of the factory for the highest standards of production, we released the Air Plasma Spray for porous Titanium and Hydroxyapatite coatings, immediately followed by the TiGrowth® coating.

A year later, we added a second piece of equipment for Air Plasma Spray and we increased our metrology and laboratory capabilities to ensure the very best quality.

Fast forward to 2019 and our progress is accelerating. We’ve seen the coating validation on PEEK substrate for the spine market, the development of our cleaning and packaging capability, as well as the planned installation of a second CAPS Intercooler at the end of the year.

We are sure that China is the future, which is why we will keep evolving to provide the best outcome for this market and the wider world. The opportunities are huge, although come with challenges. We’re convinced that our priority is to make things easy for our customers and we thank them for supporting us in our growth. We plan to exceed their expectations as we move forward.

So, what exactly does the future hold? It’s impossible to predict all the opportunities that may lie ahead, although it’s easy to envisage expansion in the area of other orthopaedics and spine solutions, as well as different types of coating for medical application. The integration of supply chain solutions for customers is another possibility. We are looking forward to the challenge!
