HYDROXYAPATITE (HA) COATINGS
Our plasma spray hydroxyapatite (HA) coatings include Osprovit®.
Osprovit® is a slowly bioresorbable, bioactive HA coating that has a long clinical history that guarantees its high performance and suitability for widespread application.
Osprovit® is suitable for use on several types of device:
- Arthroplasty implants
- Trauma components
- Dental implants
- Spinal implants
Our original Osprovit® coating is made using our established air plasma spray production process and offers the necessary adhesion strength (>15 MPa) for application on implants when applied at the recommended thickness of 30–150 microns. It is typically applied in a single layer but high-quality double coatings made with titanium as bottom layer and HA as a top Layer are also available.
Osprovit® is typically produced as the top HA layer when a double layer coating is requested under vacuum. This application combines the bioactive performance of HA with the long-term mechanical stability of porous titanium.
A considerable amount of biological and clinical evidence is available to confirm the optimal biocompatibility and long-term clinical safety and efficacy of Osprovit®.
